About the Role
We are working with a leading investment manager looking to add to its Trading & Portfolio Analytics team within Global Equities.
This is a broad role sitting close to the investment process, combining equity and FX trading with portfolio analytics, risk analysis and data-led process improvement. Trading remains a core responsibility, but the team is particularly interested in someone who can think beyond execution and understands how market structure, quantitative strategies, technology and data are changing the way active managers operate.
The role will work closely with Portfolio Managers and Analysts within a concentrated, long-term global equity strategy. The individual will be responsible for implementing investment decisions effectively, while also helping the team better understand portfolio risks, exposures and execution outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing global equity and FX trades, with responsibility for best execution, liquidity, market impact and transaction costs.
- Translating Portfolio Manager instructions into effective implementation across portfolios and accounts.
- Analysing portfolio risk, including factor, sector, currency, concentration and liquidity exposures.
- Running scenario and “what-if” analysis to support portfolio and trading decisions.
- Using trading and portfolio data to identify trends, risks and areas where decision-making can be improved.
- Building and improving analytical tools and workflows, using platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg and Charles River alongside Python, SQL and Excel.
- Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve the efficiency of the investment workflow.
- Working closely with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Compliance, Operations and Technology teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is not a high-volume execution desk or a traditional order-taking trading role. It offers the opportunity to work within a small, highly integrated investment team where trading, portfolio analytics, risk and technology all feed into the investment process.
For someone interested in broadening beyond pure execution, there is significant scope to develop further into portfolio analytics, portfolio construction, technology and wider investment responsibilities.
Application Process
Due to the increased number of applications for this role, we may only respond to candidates whose experience most closely matches the criteria.
At our company, we prioritise equity throughout the recruitment process. We are committed to ensuring fairness and equal opportunities for all applicants. If there is anything we can do to make the process more accessible to you, please let us know.
