About the Role
Our Trading Standards Service is thriving with increasing priorities across a wide range of enforcement areas including rogue traders, doorstep crime, complex fraud investigations and food standards. To meet this demand, we are expanding our teams and are looking for experienced investigators and enforcement officers who are ready to make a real impact.
These roles offer the opportunity to:
- Work across a diverse and complex enforcement activity
- Contribute to high-profile investigations and proactive projects
- Develop specialist expertise in key Trading Standards areas, with full training and support provided
Whether your background is in regulatory, criminal, or local authority enforcement, we will support you to build new skills and develop into a specialist practitioner within our service.

To Apply
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- Be educated to NVQ level 5 in a relevant subject or have equivalent level of relevant experience.
- To hold an appropriate trading standards, regulatory compliance or law related qualification commensurate with the purpose and main responsibilities of the position.
- Have experience in managing your own workload, sound planning and preparation to meet deadlines and recording work in a detailed, accurate and timely manner, preparing reports and undertaking project work.
- Demonstrable ability in interpreting and applying appropriate legislation; enabling you to lead on and undertake a range of criminal investigations and enforcement actions. Extensive knowledge of RIPA, CPIA and PACE.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, enabling provision of complex advice whether face to face or by letter or email.
- Deputise for senior TSO's when necessary, including attending meetings, liaising and collaborating with external partners building strong relationships. Experience of staff supervision.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and statutory requirements, to maintain a thorough knowledge of Trading Standards legislation for your area of work.
