Based within the Traffic & Network Management Team working within Staffordshire Place 1 in Stafford Town Centre, this hybrid role will be registering and processing applications for activities on our highways network including parking permits, highway licences and temporary/permanent traffic regulation orders with the aim of minimising disruption and congestion, keeping traffic moving, ensuring safety and compliance on the network and providing a vital service to the residents of Staffordshire.
You will be working closely with the Inspection Team & Officers and use your knowledge and skills to log and assign applications to the appropriate Officer or Manager for review, respond to customer and contractor queries and to provide advice and information to applicants in line with the goals of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991.
Reporting into the Traffic & Network Coordination Managers, you will be required to maintain precise and accurate records and liaise with various internal and external companies, authorities and stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
In this role you'll:
- Register and process applications relating to activities on the highway network, including:
- Parking permits
- Highway licences
- Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs)
- Work closely with the Traffic and Network Inspectors, Technicians and Officers to:
- Log and assign applications to the appropriate Officer or Manager for review.
- Ensure applications are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Respond to customer, contractor and stakeholder enquiries, providing advice and information relating to highway activities and applications.
- Support the compliance with the requirements of:
- The Traffic Management Act 2004
- The New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991
- The Highways Act 1980
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of applications, communications, and decisions.
- Liaise with a range of internal teams, external organisations, authorities, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the effective management of the highway network by supporting processes that minimise disruption and improve network performance.

The Ideal Candidate
The minimum criteria that will be used to shortlist for this role will be:
- Have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and experience working with a wide range of customers.
- Be highly motivated, proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be able to manage competing priorities and conflicting demands effectively.
- Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Possess strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and process information efficiently.
- Good IT Skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Interviews will be held during the week starting 19th October.
