Collaborating with, and drawing on the specialist skills of the group’s business units we deliver a truly integrated, multidisciplinary service.

VolkerStevin is currently seeking a Trainee Accountant to join the team to provide financial assistance and support across the business. The role encompasses a range of responsibilities that are principally focussed on delivery of high quality/ robust financial control and reporting for entities within the business unit.

Location: Preston

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare the monthly Business unit Finance Pack for review
  • Month-end management account process including accruals & prepayments.
  • Manage overhead cost centres providing information to Finance Business Partner.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation preparation.
  • Bank account reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly cashflow forecasts.
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT return liaising with the Group tax dept.
  • Cost reallocation and other journals e.g. company cars, fuel cards.
  • Related party invoicing recharging costs.
  • Support the Finance Business Partner with review of reports
  • Assist the Finance Business Partner monthly project reviews meeting preparation
  • Input all system journals and posting following Finance Business Reviews
  • Review all Business Unit timesheets allocations to ensure correct.
  • Other ad hoc duties

About You

  • AAT qualified (Essential Requirement)
  • Relevant Accountancy Degree
  • Competent and confident in the use of MS Office, including Excel
  • A proactive, detail-driven approach with the confidence to engage in technical detail.
