About Us

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career while enhancing your financial knowledge and skills. Based at the Town Hall in Matlock, you will become part of a friendly and professional team committed to delivering high-quality financial support and advice across the Council.

Role

This role offers valuable experience in financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning and external audit, while supporting senior finance colleagues.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a part-qualified member of Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent and holds 5 GCSE’s grades 4-9 (or A-C) including English and Maths
  • Has experience working in a financial environment
  • Is proficient in the use of Excel and familiar with computerised financial systems (ideally Unit 4)
  • Possesses strong numeracy skills and can monitor, analyse and communicate revenue account information to a range of stakeholders
  • Can prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively within a flexible team environment
