Band 6/7 Dependent On Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated nurse or allied health professional to join our Advanced Critical Care Practitioner Team as a trainee ACCP at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs) are highly experienced and educated members of the critical care team. After undertaking extensive training and development, they are empowered to make high-level clinical decisions in the diagnosis and treatment of complex critically ill patients.

The ACCP team at University Hospitals of North Midlands is well-established and respected, consisting of 12 qualified practitioners. They work as part of the medical team under the supervision of Critical Care Consultants. Duties include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive clinical assessments
  • Requesting and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Initiating and managing clinical treatment plans including the prescription of medication

ACCPs are also trained to perform advanced procedures such as:

  • Central venous catheter insertion
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Arterial line insertion
  • Advanced ultrasound skills
