Halstock Cabinet Makers is looking for a Trainee Aftercare Technician to join our team in South Somerset.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to build a career within bespoke joinery, furniture installation and aftercare services. You may already have experience as a Joinery Apprentice, Furniture Installer, Cabinet Maker, Maintenance Technician or a similar practical role, or you may simply have the right attitude, willingness to learn and pride in delivering high-quality work.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll develop the skills and knowledge needed to support aftercare, maintenance and small works projects in some of the UK's most prestigious residential properties.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting aftercare and maintenance work on completed projects
  • Assisting with repairs, adjustments and replacement of hardware and ironmongery
  • Helping with snagging, remedial works and modifications to existing installations
  • Supporting the installation of small works projects on site
  • Travelling to client sites, primarily in London, to assist with planned works and surveys
  • Taking site photographs, notes, measurements and other project information
  • Maintaining accurate records using digital reporting and project management systems
  • Liaising professionally with clients, installers, subcontractors and internal teams
  • Assisting workshop teams with preparation, manufacturing and modification work where required
  • Following health and safety procedures and maintaining high standards of workmanship at all times

What we're looking for

  • A practical, hands-on individual with a genuine interest in craftsmanship and furniture installation
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients and colleagues
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced team members
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively
  • A calm, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
  • Reliable, proactive and committed to delivering excellent customer service

Experience within joinery, cabinet making, furniture installation, construction, maintenance or a related trade is desirable

Experience using digital reporting tools or project management software is desirable
