Vertu Hyundai Edinburgh East & West
Trainee Assistant Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Finance team as a Trainee Assistant Accountant supporting both our Hyundai dealerships in Edinburgh.
This role is ideal for an Accounting graduate, someone currently studying towards an accounting qualification, or an individual looking to begin their career within finance and accounts. Full training and support will be provided, making this a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and build a long-term career within a successful and growing business.
This is a full-time, permanent, office-based position, working 5 days per week across our Edinburgh East and Edinburgh West dealerships. You will spend time at both sites each week, with the balance of time at each location dependent on your experience and ability to work independently.
Both dealerships are easily accessible by public transport, therefore a driving licence is not essential.
We are offering a basic salary of £26,000 to £27,000 per annum, together with an excellent range of company benefits.
About The Role
This is a varied and fast-paced position where no two days are the same. Most tasks are computer-based, utilising the Kerridge accounting system and Microsoft Excel, so a good level of IT literacy and confidence working with numbers is essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
