Building Fabric Maintenance Operative (Trainee)

Location: Sizewell B

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract until September 2027, with the opportunity to progress to an apprenticeship

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Dalkia is looking for a Building Fabric Maintenance Operative Trainee to join our team at Sizewell B. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment, with the potential to progress onto a Building Fabric Maintenance apprenticeship in September 2027.

You'll work alongside experienced tradespeople, developing practical skills across a wide range of building maintenance activities. No previous experience in all of these areas is expected – we're looking for someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to working safely.

What You'll Learn And Do

As a Trainee, you'll gain experience in areas including:

  • General building and civils maintenance
  • Dry lining and stud partitioning
  • Tiling and floor coverings
  • Minor roof repairs
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Basic plumbing
  • Shuttering and concrete work
  • Minor painting and general building repairs
  • Supporting experienced tradespeople across the site

You'll also help maintain a range of important facilities, including the training centre, visitor centre and administrative buildings.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is keen to develop a career in Building Fabric Maintenance
  • Is interested in progressing onto an apprenticeship
  • Has a practical, hands-on approach and enjoys learning new skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Communicates well and is willing to ask questions and learn from others
  • Takes health, safety and quality seriously
  • Is reliable, organised and willing to get involved
