Trainee Building Management Systems (BMS) Engineer

Location: Gloucestershire / Within 1 Hour of Gloucester

Salary: £30,000–£40,000 Depending on Experience

Are you an aspiring engineer looking to build a career in Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation? Have you completed an electrical apprenticeship, gained hands-on experience as an electrician, or recently graduated in Computer Science or a related discipline?

We are working with a UK-based Data Design and Build engineering specialist that is expanding its engineering team and looking to recruit a Trainee BMS Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering business offering comprehensive product training, hands-on technical development, and the chance to work on projects across the globe, including mainland Europe, the United States, and Australia.

You don't need previous BMS experience, as full product training will be provided. The company is looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and an interest in developing a long-term career in building automation and control systems.

The Role

  • Receive full product training in Building Management Systems, building automation, and associated technologies.
  • Support the design, configuration, and implementation of BMS solutions across a range of engineering projects.
  • Learn how to integrate building services, including HVAC systems, controls, and monitoring technologies.
  • Assist with the development, testing, and commissioning of building management and control systems.
  • Work alongside experienced engineers to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Support engineering documentation, system configuration, and project delivery activities.
  • Develop an understanding of control strategies, system architecture, and building services integration.
  • Travel internationally to support projects across mainland Europe, the US, and Australia as your experience develops.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
