Start your building surveying career with Rosecrest Group Ltd while completing a surveying course at level 3.

Gain supervised experience in inspections, data capture, research and report writing while earning a recognised qualification. Ideal for someone with construction experience and strong communication skills.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Shifts from Monday to Wednesday, may be fixed from 8am to 5pm, but there will not be more than 40 hours per week.

What you'll do at work

  • Accompany experienced surveyors on supervised property inspections.
  • Record factual information about buildings and their condition.
  • Take, label and organise property photographs.
  • Assist with measurements and basic data capture.
  • Transfer approved inspection notes into report templates.
  • Draft factual report sections under supervision.
  • Check reports for spelling, grammar, formatting and consistency.
  • Carry out property-related desktop research.
  • Upload and organise inspection records and supporting documents.
  • Attend apprenticeship training and complete assignments.
  • Update training logs and continuing professional development records.
  • Follow health and safety procedures during property visits.
  • Complete general surveying and administrative tasks as instructed.

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Measure and collect data relevant to the surveying discipline
  • Demonstrate the application of health and safety issues and the requirements for compliance
  • Apply the principles of construction technology and the environmental performance of materials
  • Apply the principles of contract law to include either contracts for acquisition/disposal of property, standard forms of building contracts or other property related contracts
  • Manage own time and tasks, communicate and negotiate effectively
  • Undertake capital and rental valuations and demonstrate involvement with the preparation of client reports. Use a variety of valuation methods and techniques and use the relevant valuation standards and guidance
  • Undertake surveys, using survey and other information to diagnose cause and mechanisms of failure
  • Apply the law and practice relating to at least two of land, property, landlord and tenant or planning
  • Implement procurement routes selected for projects and carrying out tendering processes relevant to them
  • Quantification, costing and cost management of construction works, including the use of appropriate standard methods of measurement and forms of cost analysis.

Training schedule

The training will take place at the college in regard to the academic training.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C)
  • maths (grade C)
