**Trainee Bus Driver – Coalville Depot – Full & Part-Time |

Pay Rate:

  • During Training (4-6 weeks): £12.71 per hour
  • After training and mentoring:
    • Monday – Friday (daytime): £15.05 (£15.55 after 6pm)
    • Saturday: £16.05 per hour
    • Sunday & Bank Holiday: £17.05 (Bank Holiday: £33.86 per hour)
  • Lead Driver (Post-Training):
    • Monday – Friday: £16.55 (£17.05 after 6pm)
    • Saturday & Sunday: £17.55/£18.55
    • Bank Holiday: £35.36 per hour (Frequent pay review and negotiations apply.)

About the Role Start your bus driving career with Arriva at our Coalville depot, connecting communities across Leicester.

As a Trainee Bus Driver, you’ll play a vital role in getting commuters to work, supporting shoppers, and safely transporting students every day. You’ll build relationships with regular passengers, contribute to Arriva’s outstanding customer service Ethos, and become a proud part of our team.


What You’ll Do

  • Safely operate buses across local routes, delivering reliable service to customers.
  • Help passengers board, assist with baggage/cases, and ensure a friendly, professional experience.
  • Work in rotation across morning, afternoon, and evening shifts (starting from 04:00, 12:00 or 18:00).
  • Uphold Arriva’s standards for punctuality, safety, and accuracy.
  • Develop essential skills such as crisismanagement, route navigation, and overall modesty in a fast-paced workplace.

Requirements

To apply for this role, you must: ✅ Be at least 18 years old. ✅ Have 6+ months of driving experience. ✅ Hold a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points. ✅ Pass a drug and alcohol test. ✅ Possess excellent people skills and a strong customer service mindset. ✅ Be willing and able to work shift patterns (rotating 5 days on, 2 days off).

No prior experience with commercial vehicles is required—arriva provides full paid training, including your PCV licence!
