Join Our Team Supporting Farmers, Strengthening the Rural Economy, and Feeding the Nation!

Are you looking for a hands-on career where you can learn a skilled trade, work as part of a supportive team, and play an important role in producing high-quality food? Dunbia is one of Europe’s leading food processing companies, and we are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join our Sawley site, near Gisburn.

We have exciting opportunities available for Trainee Butchers within our Boning Hall Departments, reporting to the Boning Hall Managers. These roles offer full training and the chance to build practical butchery skills while helping ensure our operations are carried out safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

There are 2 different shifts available working Monday to Friday, so you can choose either 6am to 2.30pm or 3.15pm to 11.45pm.

Who We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from people who enjoy practical work, take pride in doing things properly and are keen to learn within a regulated food production environment. You do not need previous butchery experience; what matters most is a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to develop.

As part of Dunbia UK, within the Dawn Meats Group, you will join a well-established business with strong values, long-term career opportunities and a commitment to creating better food naturally. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn and develop a skilled career in butchery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
