Exciting Opportunity in Stoke on Trent NHS Talking Therapies Service

The Stoke on Trent NHS Talking Therapies Service is a partnership between North Staffs Combined Health Care, the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust, and third sector providers. This innovative, high-performing Talking Therapies team provides effective treatments for a broad range of mental health problems in primary care, focusing on anxiety disorders and depression.

We are looking to recruit several trainee CBT Therapists

The successful applicants should have 1-2 years’ experience working in a mental health setting and ideally hold a core mental health professional qualification. Applicants will be supported to apply for the Post Graduate Diploma in CBT via Keele University for the January 2027 intake.

Shortlisted applicants must be available to attend academic screening mid September. Those passing academic screening will then be offered interviews with the locality team.

If successful, applicants will be funded to work as trainee CBT Therapists within the Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire NHS Talking Therapies Service.

Band 7 posts as CBT Therapists will be offered to those passing the PGD with no performance concerns at the end of training. As far as possible, these posts will be accommodated in the clinical placement service, though subject to vacancies and service need, they may be within another Talking Therapies team within North or South Staffs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
