Trainee Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) - YOUnited
Fixed-term contracts for 12 months.
Salary: £26,227.50 – 37.5 Hours per week
Training commences in January 2027 – Permanent position subject to vacancies at the point of qualification in 2028.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to train as a CWP whilst employed by Ormiston Families as part of the YOUnited partnership, working across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The successful candidates will undertake training with the University College London (UCL) at the Anna Freud Centre, alongside working in service for Ormiston Families. You will be trained in the delivery of evidence-based ‘guided self-help’ interventions for children and young people (CYP) experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.
YOUnited provides a single point of access for all referrals for CYP in need of support with their mental health and emotional wellbeing across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It is a partnership of Ormiston Families, Centre 33, and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust. Ormiston Families work with CYP aged 5-13.
You will join a supportive team of CWPs and counsellors and will receive regular supervision to support your professional development. You will also be using your newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred to YOUnited.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with CYP who have experienced mental health or emotional wellbeing difficulties.
- Provide evidence-based ‘guided self-help’ interventions.
- Receive regular supervision to support professional development.
Requirements
- Experience of working with CYP who have experienced mental health or emotional wellbeing difficulties is essential.
- Minimum of a second-class bachelor’s degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g., psychology), or relevant professional experience in CYP Mental Health/Education/Mentorship.
Location
This is a home-based position, but you will be required to travel across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. You will also need to be able to travel to London to undertake training an average of one day per week during term time, more frequently at the start of the training.
