The UK P&I Club is seeking ambitious graduates to join our Claims team as Trainee Claims Executives. Whether your degree is in Maritime Studies, Oceanography, Law, Engineering, Naval Architecture, International Business, Risk Management, Geography, or a related discipline, this could be the perfect opportunity to begin your professional journey.

About the UK P&I Club

The UK P&I Club is one of the world's leading providers of Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance, protecting shipowners and operators across the globe. As part of the International Group of P&I Clubs, we help insure around 90% of the world's ocean-going tonnage.

This is much more than a graduate role. From day one, you'll be working at the centre of international trade, helping solve complex problems, supporting shipowners around the world, and developing expertise in a highly specialised and globally respected sector.

The Role

As a Trainee Claims Executive, you will work alongside experienced Claims Executives and industry specialists while developing your own portfolio of work and responsibilities.

You will:

  • Learn how complex marine liability and insurance claims are investigated, managed and resolved
  • Develop an understanding of marine insurance, maritime law, global trade and shipping operations
  • Assist in handling a wide range of P&I claims and member enquiries
  • Analyse information, assess risks and contribute to decision-making on live cases
  • Work alongside senior Claims Executives on significant and high-profile claims
  • Build relationships with shipowners, brokers, lawyers, surveyors and other industry professionals worldwide
  • Gain exposure to international incidents involving vessels, cargo, crew, pollution and personal injury matters
  • Learn how technology, data and digital tools support modern claims management
  • Develop commercial insight through collaboration with colleagues across underwriting, loss prevention, finance and other Thomas Miller businesses
  • Attend internal and external training events, industry conferences and networking opportunities
  • Support account management activities and contribute to exceptional service for our Members
