Trainee Claims Handler

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Claims Handler to join our Motor Claims department in Belfast!

Joining us as a Trainee Claims Handler, you’ll handle and settle damage claims in a timely, cost effective and customer focused manner ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements in your jurisdiction.

Training is 4 weeks full time, and all IT & office kit will be provided. Please note, we cannot facilitate annual leave during this training period.

Salary

A competitive starting base salary of £26,826 with an increase to your salary after successful completion of 6 months’ probation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Complete all aspects of claims management on damage or property claim files (notification, triage, investigation, fulfilment, negotiation, liability and settlement, payment, subrogation and salvage) within predefined authority limits and to predefined processes, procedures and escalation points.
  • Deal effectively with referrals, escalations and complaints where appropriate including upward referral to relevant team leader.
  • Contain claim costs by implementing agreed processes and deploying all resources effectively (system and technical resources, other teams, liaising with Third Party Service providers, customers, solicitors).
  • Deliver consistency in estimating, minimise leakage and fraud.
  • Identify and refer potential cases of fraud to Special Investigations Unit (SIU) using red flag indicators and handler intuition in order to avoid commercial loss through potentially fraudulent claims.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.
  • Act with integrity in acting for the customer.
  • Be flexible within the role to undertake other duties as assigned by your Team Manager.
  • Deliver agreed personal, team and business/company objectives, actively manage your own performance.

About You

What we’re looking for:

  • 5 pass GCSEs including Maths and English / or equivalent is essential.
  • High level of customer service experience and ability.
  • PC and system skills.
  • As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland/ the United Kingdom.
