About Us
JD Healthcare Group is one of the UK's leading fertility and reproductive healthcare providers, operating brands including London Women's Clinic, London Egg Bank, London Sperm Bank, KindIVF, Surrey Park Women's Clinic and Elective Egg Freezing across the United Kingdom. Since 1985, we have been supporting individuals and families through some of the most significant journeys of their lives — combining world-class clinical expertise with genuine human care. Everything we do is driven by a shared purpose: helping people build the families they dream of.
About the Role
As Trainee Cryoscientist at JD Healthcare, you will play a key role in the management of cryopreserved gametes and embryos — ensuring safe, accurate and compliant storage and handling across our laboratory. Working collaboratively within the laboratory team, you will maintain high standards of regulatory compliance, data accuracy and patient care, while developing your expertise in cryostorage management, sample handling and laboratory operations. This is an excellent entry point for a science graduate looking to build a career in reproductive medicine and cryoscience within one of the UK's most established fertility providers.
What You Will Do
- Routinely monitor cryostorage tanks, ensuring internal liquid nitrogen (LN₂) levels are adequately maintained to support continuous operation and sample integrity — including responding to alarm systems and escalating where required
- Perform manual handling of cryopreserved gametes and embryos during transfers in and out of storage tanks
- Double witness storage, gamete and embryo movements and laboratory procedures to maintain accuracy, traceability and regulatory compliance
- Ensure dry shippers are properly maintained, pre-conditioned and ready for use, and load them appropriately for safe transportation of cryopreserved gametes and embryos
- Maintain accurate data entry, validation and records relating to gamete and embryo storage, including reporting to the HFEA
- Coordinate the transport of embryos and gametes to and from clinics and donor banks — including preparation of documentation, organisation of couriers and communication with patients and external clinics
- Maintain and monitor the clinic's bring-forward system to ensure all stored gametes and embryos remain within their consented storage period, in line with the cryo-management SOP and HFEA regulations
- Deliver professional support to staff and patients regarding cryostorage enquiries, ensuring clear communication and a high standard of patient care

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
