Customer Side Leakage Reduction Trainee Technician

Location
Area to cover Central East, mainly around Goole, Selby and Hull.
Work type
Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

We make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year.
You’ll take end-to-end ownership of the customer journey, working directly with customers to resolve leakage issues on private pipework, using innovative technology and proactive detection methods. This is a hands-on role where you’ll combine technical skills, problem-solving, and customer engagement to make a real impact.

Where you fit in
- Deliver excellent face-to-face customer service, owning problems through to resolution.
- Detect and investigate customer side leakage to meet performance targets.
- Promote and validate repair work with service partners to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Carry out accurate surveys and support legal enforcement processes (s.75).
- Use advanced leakage detection equipment and corporate systems (e.g., Temetra, Netbase).
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Maintain the highest standards of health and safety and customer experience.
What skills & qualifications you will need
- Strong communication and influencing skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving skills and confidence to make decisions.
- Technical aptitude for leak detection and data interpretation.
- Full clean driving licence, no more than 6 points
