Trainee Cutter / Butcher
Location: Hainault, London
Salary: £35,689.68 - £38,000
Shift: Monday to Saturday
Shift Times: 6:00am – 3:00pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time
About the Role
Join our team at Select Meats and begin your career in the catering butchery trade. We’re looking for hardworking, reliable, and motivated trainees who are keen to learn new skills and develop a long-term career in butchery.
The meat industry is currently in need of skilled butchers, making this an excellent opportunity to learn a valuable trade and build a rewarding career within the Reynolds Group. Full training will be provided to the right candidate, with opportunities to develop your skills in boning, trimming, cutting, and portion control.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Packing, boning, trimming, and preparing poultry and red meat products.
- Cutting and preparing customer orders and stock to exact customer specifications.
- Cutting poultry products accurately to meet specific customer requirements.
- Learning how to portion and control products accurately and consistently.
- Developing skills in deboning poultry and other meat products.
- Gaining knowledge of different meat cuts and understanding customer-specific requirements.
- Ensuring all products are prepared accurately and to the required quality standards.
- Working efficiently on your own while supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the wider team.
- Adhering to company food safety, hygiene, health, and safety procedures at all times.

What We’re Looking For
- A genuine interest in catering butchery, boning, trimming, and portion control.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Good understanding of the English language.
- Basic reading and writing skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with knives or kitchen skills would be an advantage.
- Reliable, hardworking, and committed to developing a career in butchery.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
