Background to the role

We are recruiting for a trainee to join our sales team, selling delegate places on some of the best-known conferences and exhibitions across the utilities and sustainability sectors.

They will be tasked with generating delegate sales for our conferences and events, building relationships with prospective attendees over the phone and by email, and working towards individual and team sales targets. Full training will be provided, both on the job and through formal sales training, with the opportunity to progress beyond telesales into a more solution-led, higher value portfolio sales role within the edie or Utility Week.

The role will initially be office-based, giving the successful candidate the chance to learn from the team day to day, with opportunities to work from home as they grow into the role. A keen sense of responsibility and a good work ethic are essential to succeed.

Person Specification

Our ideal candidate is excited by the idea of a sales career and looking for the right opportunity to get started.

Ideally, they will have:

  • A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine willingness to work hard
  • The confidence to build rapport quickly with new people, both on the phone and in writing
  • A preference for picking up the phone rather than defaulting to email
  • Organisational skills, a good degree of common sense, and a willingness to learn and develop
  • The persistence and resilience to handle rejection positively, balanced against the buzz of closing a deal

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
