£31,537 £34,303 pro rata (on qualification)
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461

NHS Western Isles is looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team as a Trainee Dental Nurse. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a clinical career, keen to make a difference to patients’ experiences, and ready to learn new skills within a supportive dental team.

Role Responsibilities

As a Trainee Dental Nurse, you will be fully enrolled in a structured training programme and supported by experienced dental professionals throughout your qualification journey. On successful completion, you will progress to Band 4 and become a Registered Dental Nurse, with strong career prospects and opportunities across both primary and secondary dental services.

Training Period Pay

During Your Training Period, You Will Be Paid In Line With Annex 21 Of The Agenda For Change Terms & Conditions, Which Outlines The National Arrangements For Trainee Pay And Banding. For Trainees Covered By Paragraph 2(iii) Where Periods Of Training Last For Between One And Four Years, Pay Will Be Adjusted As Follows:

  • Up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75% of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate
  • More than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70% of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate

Once you successfully qualify as a Registered Dental Nurse, your salary will move to Band 4, with a current pay range of £29,116 £31,670 per annum.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
