Finlay Jude Recruitment (FJR) is recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation within the utilities sector for Trainee Smart Meter Technicians.

No prior experience is necessary – full training, equipment, and a company vehicle will be provided.

The Role

As a Field Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the water network operations by installing data logging devices. The devices are used to record water network performance, with the data collected supporting leakage, network modelling, pressure management and water usage.

This field-based position requires working independently, managing your time effectively, and ensuring work is completed to high standards.

Trainee Smart Meter Technician Responsibilities

  • Installation and maintenance of water sensors used to record acoustics, pressure and flow
  • Use of specialist equipment
  • Accurately complete timesheets, survey forms, and leakage reports
  • Take full responsibility for Health & Safety compliance
  • Work closely with Team Leaders and fellow technicians
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses within required timeframes
  • Adhere to company vehicle safety processes and complete daily vehicle checks
  • Demonstrate company values and professional behaviours at all times

Trainee Smart Meter Technician Requirements

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Good time keeping, reliable and hard working
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all conditions
  • A Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Excellent customer service skills
