Are you already Level 4 qualified, but have never worked as a regulated Financial Adviser or personally delivered regulated financial advice?
The St. James’s Place Financial Adviser Academy is looking to speak with experienced professionals who have already completed a recognised Level 4 financial advice qualification and are now genuinely ready to move into a client-facing Financial Adviser career.
This opportunity is particularly suited to professionals currently working within areas such as paraplanning, private banking, wealth management, financial planning support, advice quality, compliance, investment management, technical financial planning or relationship management.
You may already have strong technical knowledge of financial services, but have not yet had the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships and personally deliver financial advice.
Qualification requirement:
You must have fully completed one of the following:
- CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, DipPFS
- LIBF Diploma for Financial Advisers, DipFA
- CISI Investment Advice Diploma, including the relevant Financial Planning & Advice component
Candidates who are still studying towards Level 4 are not suitable for this particular opportunity unless you have completed 4/6 exams in DipPfs/LIBF or 2/3 exams in IAD.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity
Because you have already completed the relevant Level 4 qualification, the focus will be on developing the practical skills required to become a Financial Adviser.
You will build confidence in areas including client meetings, understanding client objectives, financial planning conversations, relationship management, applying technical knowledge in practice and developing towards Competent Adviser Status.
You will receive structured development and practical exposure within the St. James’s Place Partnership, with the aim of helping you transition from being technically qualified into a confident, client facing adviser.
Longer term, opportunities may include joining an established SJP Partner Practice or, depending on your experience and ambitions, exploring the business owner route within the Partnership.
Who we are looking for
We want to speak with people who have made a deliberate decision to pursue financial advice as their next career move.
Holding the qualification alone is not enough.
