Position Title: Trainee Installation Specialist

Organisation: CribMaster EMEA

Location: United Kingdom

Reports to: Head of Programme Management

Position Summary

Learn, travel, build, solve. This is a launchpad role for someone curious, practical and tech-minded who wants to learn by doing, visit customer sites, solve real problems, and build a career with CribMaster, part of the Smart Storage Solutions division of Stanley Black & Decker. We provide industry-leading tool and asset tracking solutions to clients across aerospace, defence, transport, construction, manufacturing, and distribution.

As a Trainee Installation Specialist, you will support the installation, setup and care of CribMaster hardware and software-enabled solutions at customer sites. This role is designed for someone early in their career who is curious, tech savvy and eager to learn through structured training, self-paced learning, coaching, supervision and hands-on experience. You will assist with deployments, maintenance, troubleshooting, customer requirements, data preparation and ad-hoc technical support activities, building knowledge while learning how CribMaster helps customers control tools, improve visibility and support critical operations.

This is a field-based role where travel is essential, very frequent and a major part of the experience. Our customers are widely dispersed, so we go where the work takes us, often travelling weekly to support sites across the UK, EMEA and beyond as capability develops. You will see real operations across genuinely fascinating environments while learning, developing and contributing to meaningful customer outcomes.

This is a strong foundation role for someone ready to build a career in a practical, technology-led environment and adopt the culture, behaviours, and ethos of a truly collaborative team-led environment.

Experience & Qualifications Required

  • No previous installation or technical experience required; suitable for candidates at the start of their career. Extensive training is provided through mentorship and structured learning modules.
  • Interest in practical, hands-on work and willingness to develop mechanical aptitude through training.
  • Strong interest in technology, hardware, software, tools, systems and how things work; electronics, RFID and CribMaster knowledge will be taught.
  • Ability to follow instructions, checklists, safety guidance, and structured training material.
  • Willingness to learn basic problem-solving skills and escalate issues rather than resolve complex challenges independently.
  • Willingness to build knowledge through training, self-paced learning, shadowing, experience and feedback.
  • Clear, polite communication skills and ability to seek support when needed.
  • Good written and verbal English; additional languages are helpful but not required.
  • Awareness of safety, professionalism, and good conduct; regulated-environment experience is not required.
  • Positive attitude toward essential, very frequent travel, often weekly, and short-notice customer support as capability and confidence develop.
  • This role will require access to export-controlled defence technology and restricted customer environments, with eligibility assessed case by case in line with applicable law, customer requirements and company policy.
  • Candidates will ideally hold a valid driving licence or be willing to work towards obtaining one.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
