We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.

About Your Role

Step into a career where your curiosity, determination and appetite for hands-on learning really count. As a Trainee Kitchen Appliance Engineer, you'll play a vital role in keeping homes running smoothly by bringing essential appliances back to life, while building a future-ready skillset you can be genuinely proud of.

Whether you’re changing direction, starting fresh, or looking for a role with real purpose, this is your chance to grow. What matters most is your drive to learn, your problem-solving spark, and your commitment to doing great work with care and confidence.

At a state-of-the-art training centre, you won't just learn the basics - you’ll develop the skills, qualifications, and practical experience to thrive. You'll learn how to diagnose, service and repair a wide range of kitchen appliances, from electric ovens and hobs to washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigeration. With support from experienced engineers, you'll develop the technical expertise, confidence, and know-how to solve problems and make a real difference from day one.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
