The Role

As a Library Assistant Trainee, you will support the day-to-day delivery of our library and document delivery services, helping to provide an excellent experience for solicitors, law firm staff, members, colleagues, and the public. You will assist users with legal research enquiries, help them access our collections and online resources, and contribute to the efficient running of one of the UK's leading legal libraries.

The role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of library activities, including providing support at the enquiry desk, processing document delivery requests, assisting users in person, by telephone and email, maintaining library collections, processing new books and journals, and supporting catalogue and stock management activities.

You will also help create a welcoming library environment, contribute to exhibitions and displays, support library tours and engagement activities, maintain service records and statistics, and assist with projects that promote and develop the library and archives service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
