We’re excited to open up a new development opportunity for a Mechanical & Electrical PPM Engineer within our Mobile Delivery Team – as part of our new Develop initiative. This traineeship role is a perfect fit for those who want to add to their skillset and progress into a M&E role.
What You'll Be Doing
Initially, you will be enrolled on a 3-month programme which will provide training on several key elements within M&E. Through a mixture of on-the-job, practical and theoretical learning, you will develop the essential skills required to be a safe, productive and successful M&E PPM Engineer.
Please note that the majority of the learning will take place at the National Training Centre in Stevenage, therefore regular travel into Stevenage (including occasional overnight stays) will be required of the successful colleagues.
Following this learning period, you will be integrated as a key member of the M&E team in your area, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks across a defined portfolio of sites. You’ll ensure all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
