Trainee Mortgage & Protection Adviser, Self-Employed

Cheshire / South Manchester | Remote with in-person training

Are you CeMAP qualified and ready to take your first step into mortgage advising?

Perhaps you’re a mortgage administrator who knows the process inside out and now wants to work directly with clients. Or you’re an adviser from a bank or tied background, keen to develop your knowledge of the wider market.

We’re looking for a motivated trainee Mortgage & Protection Adviser to join an established Principal within Just Mortgages. With more leads than he can currently service himself, this is an opportunity to develop your skills with leads to work with and experienced support around you.

The role can be remote, with in-person training where required. Ideally, you’ll be based in Cheshire or South Manchester.

On your own, but not alone

Taking your first step into self-employment is a big decision. At Just Mortgages, you’ll have training, guidance and support from your Principal and Area Director as you build your knowledge, confidence and business.

What you can expect:

  • Leads provided by an established Principal.
  • Training and support as you develop into a mortgage and protection broker.
  • Help to make the transition from administration or tied advice into the wider market.
  • Flexibility and independence within a self-employed role.
  • The opportunity to develop your earning potential and build lasting client relationships.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Your role:

As you progress through training and work towards becoming fully authorised, you’ll learn to:

  • Understand clients’ circumstances, needs and financial goals.
  • Research and recommend suitable mortgage and protection solutions.
  • Support clients throughout their mortgage journey.
  • Build relationships with clients, lenders and providers.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow compliance requirements.
  • Organise your workload and follow up on enquiries.

Who we’re looking for:

  • CeMAP qualified, or an equivalent mortgage advice qualification.
  • Mortgage administrators with CeMAP are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Applications are also welcome from experienced bank or tied advisers looking to move into broking.
  • Strong communication skills and a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • A willingness to learn, take feedback and develop your skills.
  • Organisation, motivation and an understanding of the commitment involved in self-employment.

Previous experience as a mortgage broker isn’t essential, your attitude, ambition and willingness to learn matter. This is a self-employed opportunity, rather than a salaried trainee position. We’ll talk you through how the arrangement works so you can decide whether it’s the right next step for you.
