Job Overview

Our UK wide Motor Trade team have an exciting new role for an Assistant Underwriter, where you’ll play a vital part in driving team success and achieving ambitious targets. By supporting Commercial Underwriters, you’ll help ensure the profitable and efficient underwriting of commercial motor trade business.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to foster and develop key broker relationships, aligning with branch objectives and contributing to the growth and strength of the team. We’ll offer you a tailored training and development plan as well as supporting professional qualifications to enable you to effectively underwrite commercial risks. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive support to underwriting teams in writing, issuing, and processing business, including midterm adjustments, using available guidance and resources.
  • Assist in gathering, analysing, and inputting accurate underwriting information into systems with keen attention to detail.
  • Deliver timely, self-initiated assistance to support the delivery of high-quality underwriting and customer service.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships, using effective questioning to understand needs and enhance the customer experience.
  • Commit to continuous self and team development, embracing best practices, and contributing to team success through ownership and proactive engagement.

Work Arrangements

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least three days a week (60%) away from home. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Some experience in an insurance environment or financial services environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and professional interaction.
  • Effective time management and organisational abilities to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Strong numerical reasoning and analytical skills to interpret data effectively.
  • A proactive attitude towards professional development, with an interest in pursuing relevant qualifications.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
