Trainee Negotiator | Start Your Career With Sage
Sage | Birmingham City Centre (5 mins from New Street Station)
Full time | Monday to Friday | 10:00am to 6:00pm | Immediate start
The way you communicate shapes almost everything, how you come across in interviews, how you handle pressure, how people respond to your ideas. At Sage, we help people build those skills from the ground up and turn them into a career. You will learn how to hold a conversation with anyone, read what people actually need, and negotiate outcomes that work, the kind of abilities that open doors long after you have learned them.
No experience needed. No degree required. We are growing our Birmingham team following a recent client acquisition, and we are looking for someone local with real drive who is ready to learn. Bring the willingness to be coached and we will teach you the rest, with structured training and daily support from people who want to see you do well.
Why Sage is the right place to start
We are based right in Birmingham City Centre, five minutes from New Street, working with established clients across sales, marketing, customer acquisition and business development. But what really sets us apart is how much we invest in the people who join us. Your first three to six months are built entirely around your development, with structured training and daily coaching from people who genuinely want to see you do well.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you will learn
These are skills that stay with you for life, in interviews, meetings, presentations and everyday decisions, not just in sales:
- Confident communication — how to start conversations naturally and connect with anyone, in any setting
- Active listening — understanding what people really mean and making them feel heard
- Relationship building — how trust is earned and why strong relationships drive long term success
- Emotional intelligence — reading people well and understanding your own style
- Resilience — handling pressure and setbacks without losing your confidence
- Persuasion and influence — presenting ideas clearly and guiding decisions, never pushy
- Commercial awareness — understanding how businesses actually win and keep customers
What the role involves
As a Trainee Negotiator, you will gradually take on responsibility for representing client campaigns, starting and managing customer conversations, understanding what people need, presenting solutions, handling questions, building trust and negotiating outcomes that work for everyone. You will have support and coaching at every step.
