Trainee Optical Assistant
So, you’re a proactive people person, passionate about retail and offering the best customer service? Sounds like you’d be a great fit here. So, if you’ve ever considered a career in optics, this Trainee Optical Assistant role could be perfect for you.
As a Trainee Optical Assistant, you don’t need to have previous experience, you just need to be prepared to create an outstanding store environment for both our customers and our team, making sure every patient receives the best care in our stores.
Our Store
The Specsavers Sutton Coldfield store is a busy and well-established optical and audiology practice located in the heart of Sutton Coldfield town centre. Following its move to a brand-new store in December 2025, the practice now operates from a modern, purpose-built environment designed to enhance both the customer and colleague experience. Colleagues work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, supporting customers throughout their eye and hearing care journey, from booking appointments through to product selection and aftercare. The store benefits from excellent transport links, with Sutton Coldfield railway station within walking distance, providing regular services to Birmingham city centre and surrounding areas. Multiple local bus routes also serve the town centre, making the store easily accessible.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
