Trainee Patent Attorney - Photonics - London
Full-Time | Permanent | Hybrid | Start date: September 2027
We are looking for a trainee patent attorney to join our London team and focus on photonics and optical inventions and innovation. The role will include hands-on work from day one with regular client and inventor contact. You will have the opportunity to work across lasers, imaging, optical communications and sensing, with scope to move into telecoms, quantum and medical technologies. This is hands-on, high-impact work for market-leading tech clients.
September 2027 is our standard start date, but we're happy to consider candidates who are ready to join us earlier - get in touch and we'll talk it through.

About you
- Academic degree in physics, optical engineering, photonics or electronic engineering
- PhD welcome, but not essential - expertise and capability matter most
- Curious, analytical, and excited by challenging technology
- Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
- Meticulous attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work independently
- Motivated to develop your networking skills and contribute to business development
