Trainee UK Payroll Administrator

As a Trainee UK Payroll Administrator, you’ll be starting your career in payroll by learning the fundamentals of end-to-end UK payroll processing. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you’ll support the delivery of accurate and timely payrolls while developing your technical knowledge, customer service skills, and understanding of payroll legislation

  • Assisting with the preparation and processing of UK payrolls under the guidance of senior team members
  • Supporting the completion of payroll checklists, calendars, and documentation
  • Helping to maintain accurate employee and payroll records
  • Responding to basic queries from clients and colleagues, escalating more complex issues as needed
  • Learning how to calculate statutory payments and deductions (e.g. tax, NI, pensions)
  • Supporting the preparation of payroll reports and payslips
  • Participating in team meetings and training sessions to build knowledge and confidence
  • Shadowing experienced payroll professionals to understand best practices and service standards
  • Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting colleagues where needed

Requirements

  • A genuine interest in payroll and a desire to build a career in this area
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
  • Good numeracy skills and confidence working with data
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to ask questions and seek feedback
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office software
