Trainee Phlebotomist - Inverness (Full Training Provided!)

£14,461.05 base salary (that's £13.90/hour), plus overtime, mileage and commission based on performance, taking many trainees to £21,300-£22,700 OTE once training is signed off

Part time, 20 hours per week (2 x 10-hour shifts)

No experience needed, we'll train you from scratch. We're recruiting in Inverness and the surrounding Highlands for a hands-on healthcare role with real earning potential and a genuine skill (phlebotomy) you'll walk away qualified in. Before you apply, here are the essentials so you can be sure this role is right for you:

  • Full flexibility is required: your shifts could fall any day between Monday and Sunday, any time between 6am and 10pm, on a rota. You can request 2 days off in a calendar month for any reason; outside of those 2 days, full flexibility across the rota is required.
  • You'll drive to venues across the wider Highlands region, typically up to 2 hours from home each way. On occasion, for example if cover is needed elsewhere, this may be longer; whatever the distance, we pay mileage for every mile. Your paid working day is the 10-hour shift itself, the driving time isn't paid as working time, and we also cover hotel and meal costs for journeys over 1.5 hours should you require it!
  • You'll need your own car with a proper boot, and the ability to get business-use car insurance that covers you to drive for work purposes.
  • You'll need a private, secure space at home to store your kit between shifts (such as a locked cupboard, garage or hallway); shared spaces, for example some shared accommodation, may not be suitable.
  • Your first two weeks of training are at our Milton Keynes Head Office, Monday to Friday. As this is a drive from the Highlands, we pay mileage for the journey there and back, on top of the accommodation and meals we cover for your stay.
  • This is a sales-driven role: you'll work towards performance targets and commission is a core part of how earnings grow, alongside delivering clinical tests.

If those work for you, read on, this could be a genuinely great opportunity. We welcome people from all working backgrounds, training is comprehensive, and you don't need any prior clinical experience, we'll teach you phlebotomy and clinical testing from day one. That said, we love to see a real interest in health and wellbeing, strong customer service instincts, and comfort with the sales side of the role, since targets and commission are built into how earnings grow. You'll help people take control of their health, meeting customers who rely on your support, reassurance and professionalism every day, while also advising them on further tests suited to their needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What Your Day Will Involve

  • Your rota (2 x 10-hour shifts, scheduled anytime between 6am and 10pm, Monday to Sunday) is given up to 8 weeks in advance, so you can plan ahead around your required flexibility. Occasionally you may also need to travel by public transport.
  • You'll set up at a well-presented venue, see 15-25 customers a day (10-45 minute appointments) covering tests such as PAD, ECG, phlebotomy, lung function and body composition, advising on further tests suited to each customer, then pack down and complete admin before heading home.
  • You're often a customer's first step in understanding their health, so the reassurance and professionalism you bring makes a genuine difference, and your recommendations on further testing are a key part of the role. No two days are the same.

What We'd Like To See

  • A full UK licence and access to your own car with a proper boot (hatchback, saloon or estate; small cars like a Mini or similar supermini won't fit the kit), plus the ability to obtain business-use car insurance covering you to drive for work.
  • A private, secure space at home to store your kit between shifts, such as a locked cupboard, garage or hallway; shared spaces, for example some shared accommodation, may not be suitable. You'll be responsible for managing your own kit day-to-day, including restocking and ordering supplies through our system when needed.
  • Full flexibility to work any day Monday to Sunday, any time between 6am and 10pm; outside of 2 requestable days off a month, full flexibility across the rota is required.
  • Prior experience using computer systems to input and retrieve information, such as logging results, updating customer records or reviewing customer history, alongside comfort using a laptop, phone or tablet.
  • Comfort working towards sales targets and KPIs alongside clinical delivery, since commission and performance targets are a core part of how earnings grow.
  • A clear DBS check, which we process on your behalf.
  • Living in or close to Inverness, and able to travel up to 2 hours from home (occasionally further) with occasional overnight stays.
  • Able to attend our Milton Keynes Head Office for 2 weeks of training, Monday to Friday (mileage, accommodation and meals covered).
  • A willingness to learn, and confidence working independently without constant supervision.
  • As part of onboarding you'll need a satisfactory enhanced criminal records check (covered by us).
