Trainee Psychological (Cognitive-Behavioural) Therapists
We have an exciting opportunity for six Trainee Psychological (Cognitive-Behavioural) Therapists to join Berkshire CAMHS Getting Help Services through the NHS England-funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programme. One post is available in each Berkshire locality: West Berkshire (non-HCAS), Reading (HCAS), Wokingham (HCAS), Bracknell (HCAS), Windsor & Maidenhead (HCAS), and Slough (HCAS). Each position is a 12-month fixed term training post.
Successful candidates will deliver cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to young people and families under supervision while completing a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Reading. On successful completion, trainees will be eligible to apply for BABCP accreditation and qualified CBT Therapist roles.
Please also note that applicants who have completed previous Health Education England-funded training (e.g. CWP or EMHP training) are not eligible to undertake CBT training until two full years have passed since their previous training exam board date. Evidence of this will be required before interview.
Please only apply if you either hold a BABCP-recognised core profession with a minimum of two years’ post-qualifying experience, or have successfully completed an accredited low-intensity training programme, with your certificate dated no later than 31 January 2025.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
