Priory Hospital Middleton St George Salary - £26,298 per annum Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Priory Hospital Middleton St George is looking for a Trainee Psychologist to join the team.

Priory Hospital Middleton St George, Darlington, County Durham is a specialist inpatient service for adults with mental health issues, complex needs and behaviours that challenge. It is accessible by public transport, with a local train station approximately 5 miles away and local bus services to Darlington.

What you'll be doing

This is a trainee role, with support provided to work towards HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist and BPS Chartership. The level of clinical responsibility will increase throughout the training programme and will be appropriate to the post holder’s experience, skills and stage of training.

You will also:

  • Manage a supervised caseload, including psychological and risk assessments.
  • Develop formulations and intervention plans, contributing to individual and group therapy.
  • Monitor outcomes and support research, service evaluation and service development.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary decision-making, administration, teaching and consultation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role You will have a BPS-accredited undergraduate Psychology degree, achieving at least an upper second-class (2:1) classification, and where required, any relevant postgraduate qualification identified by the BPS as a prerequisite for the training role.

You will be enrolled, or willing to enrol, on the appropriate professional training programme, with an understanding of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.

The following experience would be beneficial Previous experience within a psychological, clinical, healthcare or mental health setting would be desirable, along with experience of psychological or risk assessments, therapeutic interventions or group therapy.

Experience of research, service evaluation, evidence-based practice, teaching or staff support would also be beneficial, alongside knowledge of relevant psychological models, therapeutic approaches and outcome measures.
