Trainee QC Engineer

Here at Sealey, we are seeking to recruit a Trainee QC Engineer to join our team based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. You will join us on a permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary plus benefits.

The Company

Would you like to work for one of the UK’s leading hand, power tool, and equipment distributors? Established since 1978, Sealey are the preferred choice for the trade within the automotive, agricultural, motorcycle, industrial and engineering market sectors.

Working alongside our experienced QC team, you will be trained to inspect, assess and test a wide variety of products to ensure they meet our required quality, safety and specification standards.

Your Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as our Trainee QC Engineer will develop as your knowledge and experience increase and will include:

  • Carrying out visual and dimensional inspections of products.
  • Using measuring and test equipment to verify product specifications.
  • Carrying out functional and performance testing.
  • Reviewing product specifications, drawings and technical information.
  • Identifying and recording product defects and non-conformances.
  • Assisting with investigations into product quality issues.
  • Recording inspection and test results accurately.
  • Working with other departments to help resolve product quality issues.
  • Learning to interpret relevant product standards and technical requirements.

What We’re Looking For

You do not necessarily need previous QC experience. However, you should have:

  • A practical and technically minded approach.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • An interest in engineering, tools, machinery or technical products.
  • The ability to follow procedures and work accurately.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a team.

Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment or working within an engineering, mechanical, manufacturing or technical environment would be beneficial but is not essential.

Training and Development

Full training will be provided, including the use of inspection and measuring equipment, product testing techniques, quality procedures and the interpretation of technical specifications and standards.

The role is intended to provide a structured development route, allowing the successful candidate to build their technical knowledge and progress within the QC function.
