Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Location: Perth
Employment type: Full-Time, 5 days, Office Based
Salary: Available on request

Are you looking to kick-start a career in construction, step into the commercial side of housebuilding, or pivot into a role with real progression? This Trainee Quantity Surveyor opportunity in Perth could be the perfect starting point.

We’re partnering with a well-established family-owned house builder who is investing in the next generation of commercial talent. Whether you’re a school leaver, college student, recent graduate, or someone ready for a fresh career direction, this role offers hands-on training, structured development, and genuine long-term prospects.

The Role

Based at their office in Perth, you’ll join the Commercial team and work closely with the Commercial Manager, learning the full Quantity Surveyor function from the ground up. You can expect a mix of office-based training, site visits, and real hands-on experience in live housing developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation of development budgets, bill of quantities (BoQ’s) and cost estimates.
  • Measuring drawings to quantify materials, labour and plant requirements.
  • Helping track costs on active sites and updating internal cost systems.
  • Assisting with variation orders and commercial queries.
  • Issuing tender packages, comparing subcontractor quotes and raising purchase orders.
  • Visiting sites to measure completed works and support monthly subcontractor valuations.
  • Keeping commercial records organised and attending progress meetings with site teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
