Role Description
This is a full-time Trainee Roofing Estimator role based in Alcester, with a hybrid working arrangement that allows some work from home. The role involves assisting with the preparation of estimates and quotations for emergency repairs, planned maintenance, minor works, and new roofing projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing site information, interpreting drawings and specifications, gathering material and labor costs, and updating pricing databases. The trainee will support senior estimators with site surveys, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and preparing clear documentation for clients and internal teams. The role also includes maintaining accurate records, learning company processes and industry standards, and contributing to continuous improvement in estimating practices.

- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret basic technical information such as drawings, measurements, and specifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to prepare clear estimates and interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, email) and be willing to learn industry-specific estimating tools.
- Willingness to learn about roofing systems, materials, and construction practices, with attention to detail and a focus on quality and safety.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, problem-solving skills, and a professional approach.
- Relevant qualifications such as GCSEs or A-levels (or equivalent) in math, science, or construction-related subjects are beneficial; prior experience or interest in construction, engineering, or roofing is an advantage but not essential.
- A valid UK driving licence and readiness to attend site visits when required would be beneficial.
