Join Paul Rigby Ltd as a Trainee Sales Executive and play a key role in helping customers find the right automotive solutions. This entry-level sales position matters because it builds strong customer relationships, supports revenue growth and helps maintain the high service standards typical of the Automotive & Driving sector.

Purpose of the role

The Trainee Sales Executive will learn to manage enquiries, present products and services professionally, and support the sales team across the customer journey. You will develop commercial knowledge, sales techniques and product understanding so you can convert enquiries into satisfied customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to customer enquiries by phone, email and in person with a friendly, professional manner.
  • Qualify leads, understand customer needs and match them to appropriate products and services.
  • Support senior sales staff with quotations, follow-ups and preparing sales paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and update the CRM or sales systems as required.
  • Participate in product and process training to build technical and commercial knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with aftersales, service and parts teams to ensure a smooth customer experience.
  • Contribute to meeting team targets and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Clear communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Numerate and organised, with attention to detail when preparing quotes and records.
  • Ability to learn product and process information quickly and apply it in sales conversations.
  • Comfortable using computers and common business software; willingness to learn CRM systems.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work the hours typical for a full-time sales team in this sector.

Desirable Skills And Experience

  • Previous retail, customer service or sales experience, ideally in automotive or related sectors.
  • Experience using a CRM or sales-tracking tools.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle products, servicing or parts.
  • Demonstrable track record of working to targets or KPIs.
