I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a hands-on leadership role, so you'll still be out in the field working alongside your team, leading by example and putting your own sales skills into practice. You'll learn how to inspire others, build team morale, provide constructive feedback and develop the skills needed to manage and motivate a successful sales team, all while continuing to achieve your own individual goals.
Stage 3 – Sales Management & Team Development
As you continue to demonstrate strong performance and leadership capabilities, you'll have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility in managing a medium-sized sales team. You'll develop strategies for coaching, mentoring and motivating your team, helping individuals improve their performance while driving overall campaign success.
You'll gain hands-on experience in overseeing key performance indicators (KPIs), monitoring quality standards, reviewing results and identifying areas for improvement. Working closely with your team, you'll learn how to set objectives, deliver effective feedback, manage performance and create a positive, high-performing team culture.
This stage is all about stepping up as a leader, taking on increased responsibility and developing the commercial and management skills needed to oversee a successful sales operation.
Stage 4 – Account Management & Business Development
Having developed your sales and leadership experience, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your understanding of the business by learning all aspects of account management and business development.
You'll gain insight into building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding client objectives, managing campaign expectations, overseeing budgets and identifying opportunities for business growth. You'll also develop an understanding of the commercial side of the business, including campaign planning, strategic decision-making and delivering results for major UK brands.
For individuals who demonstrate the ability and suitability to progress, there may be opportunities to manage larger sales teams and oversee an account for a major UK brand, bringing together your experience in sales, leadership, account management and business operations.
