Trainee SENCo – Early Years

Avon Valley Nursery & Preschool | Keynsham

🕒 Full-time | 38 or 40 hours over 4 days

💷 Competitive salary – dependent on experience and qualifications From £13.80 per hour

Do you have a passion for inclusion and helping every child thrive?

Are you an experienced Early Years practitioner who wants to take the next step in your career and make a real difference to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We are looking for a Trainee SENCo to join our wonderful team at Avon Valley Nursery & Preschool, based at the beautiful Avon Valley Wildlife Park.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has experience working in Early Years and holds an Early Years qualification, who is ready to develop their skills, take on new responsibilities and work towards becoming an effective and confident SENCo.

What makes this role different?

This isn't just a role behind a desk!

As our Trainee SENCo, you will have the best of both worlds – remaining hands-on with the children while developing your knowledge and experience in supporting children with additional needs.

You'll work closely with our experienced SENCo, room leaders, practitioners, families and external professionals to help ensure that every child receives the support they need to achieve, belong and thrive.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop your understanding of SEND and inclusive practice.
  • Support the identification of children's individual needs.
  • Help create and implement personalised support plans.
  • Work alongside practitioners to develop effective strategies for supporting children.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and external professionals.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
  • Develop your confidence and knowledge as you work towards a future SENCo role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
