Trainee Service Receptionist
Greenhous DAF is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Trainee Service Receptionist at our Shrewsbury site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career within the automotive and commercial vehicle industry.
As part of the role, you will complete a Service Receptionist training course through Skillnet, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable industry knowledge and develop the skills required to build a successful career within the service department.
As a Trainee Service Receptionist, you’ll be one of the first points of contact for customers visiting our DAF dealership. You’ll learn how to provide a professional and welcoming customer experience while supporting the Service Advisors and wider workshop team with the day-to-day running of the service department.

Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.30 pm
- 1 in 4 Saturdays, 8.00 am to 12.00 pm
- i.e. 40 hours per week, 1 hour lunch break (unpaid)

Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming customers to the dealership and providing a friendly, professional first point of contact.
- Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries to the appropriate department.
- Assisting with customer enquiries and learning how to book vehicles into the workshop.
- Supporting the Service Advisors with day-to-day administration.
- Keeping customers informed and ensuring messages and enquiries are dealt with promptly.
- Processing paperwork and maintaining accurate customer records.
- Assisting with customer payments and transactions where required.
- Liaising with technicians, Service Advisors and other departments.
- Maintaining a professional and organised reception area.
- Learning and developing knowledge of our service processes and systems.
- Attending and completing the relevant Skillnet training course.
- Providing excellent customer service at all times.
Ideally, we are looking for:
- Previous customer service, reception or administration experience is desirable but not essential.
- No previous automotive or commercial vehicle experience required – full training will be provided.
- Willingness to complete the Skillnet Service Receptionist training course.
- Friendly, approachable and confident manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good telephone manner.
- Organised with good attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads.
- Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
