About ABD Legal
ABD Legal is a Glasgow-based law firm providing clear, practical and client-focused legal advice. Our principal areas of work include immigration, asylum and nationality law, judicial review, deportation and immigration detention. We also assist clients with employment law and other civil legal matters.
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Solicitor with a strong interest in developing their legal knowledge and practical skills in a client-focused environment.
The role
Working under the supervision of qualified solicitors, the successful candidate will gain practical experience in legal casework and contribute to the day-to-day work of the firm.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with immigration, asylum and other civil legal matters.
- Attending client meetings and taking accurate instructions and attendance notes.
- Conducting legal research and preparing draft correspondence, statements, applications and other documents for review.
- Helping prepare case files, organise supporting evidence and monitor relevant deadlines.
- Liaising professionally with clients and other parties under supervision.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
- Participating in the training, supervision and professional development required by the traineeship.

About you
Essential:
- Completed, or expected to complete before the traineeship begins, the qualifications required to commence a Scottish solicitor traineeship, including the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
- Strong interest in immigration, asylum and client-facing legal work.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail, organisation and willingness to learn.
- Professionalism, discretion and an empathetic approach to clients.

Desirable:
- Relevant legal work experience, volunteering or previous exposure to immigration and asylum matters.
- Experience communicating with people from different backgrounds.
- Additional language skills.
