Training Contract – immediate start available
CH-R Family Solicitors is a boutique firm specialising in family law. Our Partners, Claire Hamilton-Russell, Daisy Hutchinson, and Rebecca Lachno have over 50 years of combined experience and have each previously worked at leading London firms. We pride ourselves on providing our clients with a highly personalised service. We offer bespoke, clear, considered, and holistic advice, while remaining empathetic to our clients’ personal circumstances.
We specialise in acting for high net-worth individuals, many of whom are based in London and across the Home Counties, as well as internationally. We are experts in all areas of family law, including divorce and finances, children, and nuptial agreements, often acting in relation to high profile and complex cases.
We are seeking a self-motivated, hard-working, and organised trainee solicitor to join our busy and growing firm. The training contract will primarily be in family law, but there may be opportunities for a secondment. You must be available to work from our Newbury office and ideally would have previous legal experience and be able to work full-time (flexible working requests will be considered).
We are looking for someone who has either completed the LPC or SQE1 and SQE2.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
