Job Opportunity for Trainee Ultrasound Sonographer

We are pleased to offer two trainee opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified healthcare professionals to undertake formal Ultrasound training across Radiology and Women & Children’s services at New Cross and Cannock Hospitals. Following the success of our training programme, trainees will complete the Obstetrics module and the Fundamentals of Ultrasound (Physics) module in their first year. Academic study will be undertaken through Salford University, with the programme commencing in January 2027.

Subject to funding, there may be further opportunity to complete the General Abdominal module.

Requirements

Applicants must meet Salford University’s entry requirements, including holding a relevant first- or second-class honours degree, or providing evidence of suitability for postgraduate study if applying with non-standard qualifications. Candidates whose first language is not English must meet the required IELTS standard.

Progression to a Band 7 Sonographer role is dependent on successful completion of training and professional qualification. Sponsorship for this post is conditional under the RWHT training policy and may require repayment under certain circumstances.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
