Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of ALM & Trading, the Trainee Treasury Trader is responsible for supporting BACB’s trading business across both FX and balance sheet management. The trainee should be able to assist in managing day-to-day liquidity and develop an understanding of the risks associated with the investment portfolio. As well as being able to implement profitable strategies to execute FX customer flows and supporting BACB’s Treasury foreign exchange business.

Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities

  • Assist the Balance sheet management team in the day-to-day management of cash flows and maturity mismatch risk.
  • Assist in measuring and managing funding and liquidity requirements and the impact on Capital.
  • Actively develop a broad understanding of fixed income and fx products.
  • Quote customers and sales team prices for deposits, dcd’s, fx spot and swaps.
  • Assist the needs of BACB’s FX client base.
  • Actively learn all post-trade execution and trade settlement processes.
  • Actively learn and develop a working knowledge of Treasury products and markets.
  • Actively learn and develop a working knowledge of managing fixed income investment portfolios.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely relevant information both internally and externally.
  • Deliver towards the Treasury budget with a focus on both revenues and costs.
  • Work collaboratively across first, second & third line of defence teams.
  • Keep current the Treasury procedures manual.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • No official qualifications are required.
  • Understanding of relevant markets and products is essential.
  • The ability to act quickly, taking appropriate decisions in a pressured environment, is fundamental to this role.
  • ACI Dealing Certification to be taken and passed within 6 months.
  • Proficiency in relevant Microsoft Office 365 applications.
