Role Description
This full-time Trainee Utility Surveyor role is a hybrid position based in the Worcester and Kidderminster area, with some work from home possible. The role involves assisting experienced surveyors with the location and mapping of underground utilities using specialist equipment and software. Day-to-day tasks include:

- On-site data collection
- Supporting survey setup and calibration

- Contributing to the preparation of utility plans and reports

The trainee will help maintain equipment, follow health and safety procedures, and collaborate with project teams to ensure surveys are delivered on time and to required quality standards. As skills develop, the trainee will take on more responsibility for independent fieldwork and basic data processing.
Qualifications
- Ability to learn and apply technical surveying methods, including the use of detection equipment and digital mapping tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording, documentation, and basic report preparation.
- Good problem-solving skills and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions, often on construction or infrastructure sites.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and collaborate with field and office colleagues.
- Basic IT skills, including familiarity with MS Office; exposure to GIS or CAD software is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel to sites in the Worcester and Kidderminster area and across the region.
- Commitment to health and safety practices and safe working on-site.
- Relevant education or interest in surveying, civil engineering, geospatial studies, or related fields; prior site experience is beneficial but not essential.
