Trainee Workshop Assistant

We require an enthusiastic, practical and proactive trainee workshop assistant. With our workshop moving to new premises in the new year, you will help with the cleaning and inspection of basic hire equipment while training in the inspection and repair of more technical hire items.

Key responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and maintaining the presentation of equipment
  • Inspecting and testing returning hire equipment (training given)
  • Ensuring THX identification numbers are clearly marked and visible on all items
  • Using a computer-based system to record inspections
  • Regularly checking, cleaning and tidying our workshop
  • Providing support to our warehouse, workshop and driving teams as required

Monday to Friday working hours, overtime may sometimes be required to meet customer demand.

Currently based in Bedford (MK41 0QB), but relocating in the new year to MK43 0YL.

Requirements

Essential:

  • An exceptional eye for detail and the ability to work accurately at speed, including with numbers
  • Good computer skills
  • Self-motivated and prepared to take ownership of your work
  • A practical understanding and mindset, with the ability to work quickly and methodically
  • A willingness to learn
  • A can-do attitude with a willingness to help out
  • The ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks
  • Good time management
  • Able to work alone as well as being a genuine team player
